Cindy's Challah Recipe

This morning Adat Ari El's Early Childhood Center dedicated their new kitchen for the future culinary adventures that the children experience in the many years to come.  Prominently dispayed on their new counter was a framed recipe "Cindy's Challah Recipe".  Cindy Cohen, the ECC's baking guru, kindly shared her recipe with us.  Congratulations to the ECC and Happy Cooking (and Baking)!

Cindy’s Challah Recipe (Pareve)
2 ½ cups WARM water
2 Tablespoons yeast
1 Tablespoon white sugar
Stir and cover for 10 minutes.
1 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon salt
3 cups flour
Mix together
½ cup oil
2 eggs
3 cups flour
Mix together
Add up to 3 more cups of flour depending on your consistency.
Let the dough rise for a minimum of 1 hour or overnight.
Chocolate chips, sprinkles, dried fruit or whatever you like in your challah!
Divide however you would like and bake at 375 degrees for 20 – 60 minutes, depending on size.
When it browns on the bottom, it is done.
